Today, 28 September 2015, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also held a constructive meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary General, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme Helen Clark.
The meeting discussed the issues related to fruitful cooperation of Tajikistan with this agency of the United Nations and implementation of numerous cooperation projects with Tajikistan.
The sides expressed satisfaction over the adoption of two quite important documents - UN Development Assistance Framework Programme for 2016-2020 and Country Programme for 2016-2020 which correspond to the current and strategic priorities of Tajikistan and goals of the Government of the country in the domain of sustainable development for the period 15 next years.
The interlocutors characterized the role of the UNDP in the addressing of boundary and regional issues related to economic cooperation and ensuring of security as very valuable, and especially mentioned about the project "Initiative of Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the Poverty Reduction" for 2010-2012 and three-year project titled "Improvement of Population Wellbeing in the border areas of Tajikistan and Afghanistan" as models of the development of border cooperation.
Moreover, during the meeting the sides had fruitful conversation on the implementation of projects for poverty reduction, construction of rural infrastructure, development of entrepreneurship and border trade, professional training and facilitation to strengthening of regional security and stability.
