Meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today evening in Sochi of the Russian Federation has met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At the beginning of the meeting were discussed issues related to the development of friendly relations and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

Vladimir Putin welcomed Emomali Rahmon to Sochi and praised the content of relations between the two countries, based on strategic partnership.

Emomali Rahmon, in his turn, expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to talk with Vladimir Putin and said: "We appreciate the level of relations with Russia and use all opportunities so that our strategic and allied partnership steadily develops on the basis of the acquired experience of interaction between us."

The head of Tajikistan has also stated that "the rapidly changing situation in the world and our region requires effective communication."

In this connection, was held a constructive discussion on the implementation of the modernization program of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan and ways to enhance the protection of the state border with Afghanistan.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on expansion of trade and economic cooperation, including in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, simplifying working and living conditions of migrant workers of Tajikistan in the territory of Russia.
