Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the Chairman of Badakhshan Region Shodikhon Jamshed, as well as with the Chairmen of eight cities and districts, including Khorog, Murghab, Shugnan, Roshtkala, Ishkashim, Rushan, Vanj and Darvaz in connection with the earthquake occurred on December 7.

Chairman of Badakshan Mountainous Autonomous Region, heads of cities and districts of the region have been entrusted to take permanent control of the situation with the affected residents, to take immediate steps to resettle the affected residents in temporary accommodation, providing them with food, warm clothing and medical assistance.

Today, President Emomali Rahmon also has instructed the Prime Minister of the country Qohir Rasulzoda, Chairman of the Governmental Commission Azim Ibrohim to take direct control of the course of elimination of consequences of earthquake.

Governmental Commission was instructed to immediately leave for GBAO and directly monitor the progress of remediation.

In addition, it was instructed to immediately create 24 hours operational National and Regional Staff in order to assist the affected population.
