Regular meeting of the Government to address the consequences of the earthquake in Badakhshan Region

A regular meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan today morning was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Head of Government of the country, Emomali Rahmon.

The purpose of this meeting was to examine  the ways to address the consequences of the earthquake in Badakhshan Region.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda reported on the victims and the devastation caused by the earthquake, and the operational measures.

It was emphasized that in the territory of Badakhshan Region 237 houses were completely destroyed as well as 588 houses were damaged.

In addition, partially have been damaged many social facilities, including schools, libraries and other institutions.

The residents of 237 completely destroyed houses are located in places of temporary residence and provided with food, clothing, and other conditions.

By mobilizing the necessary equipment and machinery organized clearing of roads of national, local and international significance. Some roads have been cleared. All sections of road will be completely cleared within three days.

Governmental Commission and national, regional, city and district staffs are working 24 hours

It was instructed to identify sites for the construction of new settlements in secure locations in order that spring and summer of next year people could start the construction of their new homes.

According to another order of the Head of State Emomali Rahmon, in Badakhshan Region operationally should be reserved food, combustible materials, and goods of daily consumption.

"To provide operational assistance and transportation of people to safe places helicopters should be in a constant state of readiness in the closest to the quake-hit areas", - stressed the President of the country Emomali Rahmon.
