Participation in the meeting of heads of CSTO member states

The Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon took part and delivered a speech at the meeting of the Heads of member states of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation in St. Petersburg today.

At the beginning of his speech, the Head of state Emomali Rahmon once again expressed deep condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin and to the families and friends of those who died in a plane crash over the Black Sea.

The meeting participants exchanged views on current situation in the world and region, namely combating terrorism, extremism, as well as complicated political and military situation in Afghanistan, and issues related to providing security and stability in the territory of member states of the organization.

The discussion also focused on further expansion of collective interaction within the CSTO member states.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon drew attention of the CSTO heads of member states to issues related to change of military and political situation in many countries of the region and the world.

Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon pointed out that the current situation requires more responsibility from the CSTO member states to strengthen cooperation and take operational measures to counter any regional and international threats and challenges.

Head of state Emomali Rahmon once again called upon the heads of the CSTO member states to give priority to the protection and strengthening of the state border of Tajikistan with Afghanistan, as an important measure of joint fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational organized crimes.

President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev were also taking part in the CSTO summit.
