The Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon made a working trip to Sughd Province on March 23-25.

The purpose of the President’s working trip to Sughd Province was familiarization with the process of construction and beautification works, spring field expansion works and inauguration of a number of new economic and social facilities, as well as meetings with residents and activists of the cities and districts of the province.

During his trip, Emomali Rahmon attended the opening ceremony of the new school building #14 and held a fruitful meeting with teachers, students and the activists of Bobojon Ghafurov district. Later, the President got familiar with the activity of Atlas Silk Investments “Atlasi Khujand” Ltd and visited Khujand’s 34th district where he inspected the new building of the nine-story apartment houses with a marketplace, and a trade complex.

After that the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon handed over keys to new apartments to ten persons with disabilities.

The Leader of the Nation also attended a festive Navruz dastarkhan banquet which was laid out for 450 orphans and a party on the occasion of circumcision of 50 children from vulnerable families. President Emomali Rahmon congratulated and handed over gifts to children on the occasion of Navruz holiday.

While on a working trip to Sughd Province, the Leader of the Nation visited Isfara city and inaugurated, in particular, the fruits-processing enterprise “Barakati Isfara” Ltd.

This enterprise was built by attracting investment of Russian investors, whose contribution is 97%. It was built in accordance with modern requirements.

This enterprise has a full cycle of processing and packaging of dried fruits. The processed products are mainly exported to the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, the European Union and the United States.

In the framework of his working trip to Isfara city, President Emomali Rahmon, in particular, attended the ceremony of commissioning of a reconstructed Park of Culture and Recreation named after Sayfuddin Isfarangi.

Concluding ceremony of commissioning, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, addressed before audience and congratulated residents of Isfara city on the occasion of the international Navruz holiday.

The head of state called today's facility a remarkable Navruz gift.

In his address, the President of the country noted about the role of the well-known Tajik-Persian poet and thinker Saifuddin Isfarangi, the development of agro-industrial sector, the broad cooperation between the state and the private sector, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and tourism in the city of Isfara.

The event ended with a colorful concert.

Likewise, Emomali Rahmon also toured Zumrad Sanatorium and learned about the reconstruction work there.

In the continuation of his working trip, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon held a working meeting with the Sughd Province’s leadership and activists about socio-economic development as well.

The President of the country Emomali Rahmon, speaking to the audience, noted about the economic and social indicators of the country’s development in general and in Sughd Province.

It was stressed that the amount outstanding on the field of taxes to the budget, taking into account the social tax, was more than 130 mln. somoni before the beginning of 2017, most of which falls on the city of Khujand, Istaravshan, Isfara, Zafarabad, Mastchoh and Bobojon Ghafurov district. The budget of Sughd Province was fulfilled by 101.8% in 2016, it received 1.9 billion somoni, amounting to 34.5 million somoni more than the actual plan.

There are 23 state investment projects being implemented in the region now and, the total amount of used funds is 1.7 billion somoni up to date. 123 industrial enterprises were built in the region just in the last two years. In addition, from all sources of investment in the amount of 1.3 billion somoni, fixed assets were involved in 2016, which is 29% more than in 2015.

Last year, the agrarians of the Province planted crops in the area of more than 270 thousand hectares and harvested more than 6 billion somoni, which is 9.1% higher than in 2015.

The Head of State Emomali Rahmon instructed the chairmen of the local executive body of state authority of the Province, cities and districts to eliminate the existing shortcomings in the direction of the qualitative and timely implementation of various programs for social and economic development, ensure the indicators of the revenue side of the budget, reduce tax arrears, refrain from minor expenses. Additional measures should be taken in order to ensure the financing of projects for the development of infrastructure and socio-economic projects.

The President of the country Emomali Rahmon expressed concern over the growing crime rate, especially in the cities of Guliston, Istaravshan, Asht, Shahriston and Mountainous Maschoh. According to statistics, in 2016 and in two months of current year, 6233 crimes were committed in the Province and the detection rate of crimes is 94%. The law enforcement agencies and local government authorities were instructed to eliminate the existing shortcomings, prevent and reduce the crime rate.

The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies was instructed to use the existing capacities effectively, to significantly increase production indicators, and the Ministry of Agriculture was instructed to fully supply the domestic market with agricultural products, increase its exports, and efficiently and rationally use every inch of arable lands.

Also, the reports of the Chairman of Sughd Province Abdurahmon Qodiri, the chairmen of a number of cities and districts of the Province were heard on the results of the activities of the Province’s economy in 2017, the process of implementation of the President's instructions from his Address to Majlisi Oli and implementation of other instructions and guidance of the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon.
