Participation in the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries on the margins of the BRICS Xiamen Summit

The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excelency Emomali Rahmon took part in the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries on the margins of the BRICS Xiamen Summit.

The summit was attended by Presidents Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, President Michel Temer of the Federative Republic of Brazil, President Jacob Zuma of the Republic of South Africa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, President Enrique Pena Nieto of the United Mexican States, President Alpha Conde of the Republic of Guinea, and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Speaking at the Dialogue, the Head of State Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping for inviting Tajikistani side, and said that the summit meetings provide periodic opportunities to resolve pressing regional and global issues.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stressed that under the current international situation, in which the modern world faces new challenges, holding of such high-level dialogues is of significant importance.

In addition, the Head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon spoke about the joint implementation of the new sustainable development agenda adopted by the UN in 2015. And in this context, it was stressed that joint support of the states towards its implementation will be for the interests of coming generations.

It was noted that developing countries, in particular Tajikistan, strive to develop this program in worthy conditions; the Government of Tajikistan takes urgent measures for timely solving of socio-economic issues.

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon called upon summit attendees to attach great importance to particular issues - increasing official development assistance, strengthening the bilateral trade and investment opportunities, access to reliable, safe, efficient, and sustainable energy through investing in hydropower sphere and increasing renewable energy or "green energy".
The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the BRICS summit participants to another international issue - Climate Change Impact, and stressed that the states strengthen their partnership efforts to address unpredictable situation, it will be possible to achieve high rates of access to sustainable development.

It was noted that one of the ways of access to sustainable development is the strengthening of regional trade and economic cooperation and the reliable functioning of the existing network of national and regional transportation, cooperation within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, as well as 'One Belt and One Road' and south-south cooperation as areas that could drive the strengthened integration in the direction of the progress made in global processes and economic management.

Concluding his speech, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, stressed the willingness and readiness of the Tajik side for further expansion of cooperation with the international and regional organizations and world community on important and urgent issues.
