On 20 June President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also attended and spoke at the round-table session of the UN Conference on sustainable development.
The Head of Tajikistan with close attention to issues related to increase of world’s population, global climate change, financial, energy and food crises stressed that “the long-term sustainable development goals must be concrete and transparent and more than that, they should be aimed at meeting the needs of the most vulnerable strata of population, women and children”.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon called the solution of water issues as the basis of effective implementation of MDGs, sustainable development for all, energy for all, promotion of “green economy”, poverty reduction, common access to food, ensuring sanitary and other declared global goals. He appealed to the international community for working out and adoption of specific local, national, regional and international strategies on water resources management.
