Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli who is in Tajikistan on a working visit.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged their views and discussed various aspects of bilateral ties between Tajikistan and Iran, especially the status and prospects of security cooperation.

In this context, it was stressed that to date, the legal base for our relations now counts around 160 documents on bilateral cooperation, including the memorandum of understanding on the principles and framework for bilateral security cooperation.

President Rahmon emphasized the need for implementation of comprehensive documents signed between the two countries in security field, the issue of which has paved the way for strengthening cooperation between the internal affairs bodies of the two countries.

Emomali Rahmon drew attention of the Iranian side to the significance of the active implementation of the provisions of this document.

They also exchanged views on the intensification of geopolitical competitions and modern threats facing regional and global security.

The officials continued to exchange views against the background of the coronavirus pandemic and the economic and financial crisis that is engulfing the world and posing a serious threat to the region at present and in the future.

The sides exchanged information on the practical steps taken by the governments of the two countries to combat the pandemic.

Other issues being of mutual interest were also discussed.
