Visit of border detachments in Panj and Mir Said Ali Hamadoni districts of Khatlon region

On July 16, 2021, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, General of the Army, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon got acquainted with the conditions of the deployment of the Border Troops’ military personnel and the defense condition of the regular units and subdivisions of this entity of the Armed Forces in Panj and Mir Said Ali Hamadoni districts of Khatlon province and held a meeting and conversation with the personnel of the mobilized reserves of the defense zone in the region.

President Rahmon started his visit from the base of the border detachment of Panj district in Khatlon province. The Leader of the Nation visited the center of the event with more than 2,000 personnel of the units and mobilized reserves lined up.

Lieutenant Colonel Doniyor Fayzullozoda, Commander of the Panj Border Detachment reported to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Emomali Rahmon on the readiness of the subdivisions and units.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E., Emomali Rahmon addressed the personnel and spoke about the unprecedented achievements made during of the period of State independence, improving the prestige and defense capability of the National Army, the current global threats and challenges, the current state of the state border and the combat preparedness of units.

The Head of State at the outset congratulated all officers and soldiers conscientiously defending the borders of our independent state, state and public security, the peaceful life of the people of Tajikistan, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of State independence.

In his speech, President Rahmon emphasized that the highest criterion of patriotism and respect for the Motherland, the nation and the independent state is serving the Motherland and protecting its borders.

He has noted with satisfaction that the Government of Tajikistan and the Tajik people see in the person of the personnel of the Armed Forces, including the Border Troops and law enforcement agencies, a reliable companion and dedicated defenders of their beloved Motherland.

Regarding the current political situation in neighboring Afghanistan, Mr. President stressed that the protection of the state border of Tajikistan with this neighboring country is especially important not only for the security of our country, but also for ensuring the security of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and indeed the European Union.

Today, the politico-military situation in our neighboring country - the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, including the provinces of Balkh, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan bordering the Republic of Tajikistan, is extremely complicated.

The head of state, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, stressed that the current situation in the region and the world requires every military officer and soldier of the Armed Forces, particularly those guarding the borders, vigilance, high responsibility and readiness.

At the end of his speech, the President of the country, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that every officer and soldier with a high sense of national pride, courage and perseverance will further carry out their difficult and responsible tasks entrusted to them by the state and people of Tajikistan.

President’s speech was followed by a military parade of units and reserve forces attended by more than two thousand officers and soldiers of armed forces, law enforcement agencies and mobilization reserves of the territorial defense zone by the order of the head of the Border Guard detachment.

The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, especially the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Emomali Rahmon have constantly attached attention to administration and staffing, logistics, and creation and equipment of military units from the first days of the formation of the National Army despite the unfavorable politico-military, and the socio-economic situation in the country. Particular attention is paid to the professional staff of officers and military specialists, and to strengthening the combat readiness of military personnel for the army or the Armed Forces at all times are the solid foundation of any independent country, and the guarantor of the security and peaceful life of its people.

After the military parade, the Head of State, H.E.Emomali Rahmon held a conversation with the personnel of the mobilized reserves.

During the conversation with the President Rahmon, representatives of the reserve personnel confirmed their readiness to protect every inch of their blessed native land, and reaffirmed that upon the first alarm signal, in cooperation with the Armed Forces of the country, they will be in the first position with their passionate Leader and the glorious people of Tajikistan to protect their state and the peaceful life of the population.

After an open and sincere conversation with officers, soldiers and personnel of the mobilized reserves, the President of the country, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, also got familiar with the complex of various military equipment and weapons and ammunition in the region.

While being acquainted with the living and work conditions, the supply of personnel with food, military uniforms and other necessary accessories, President Emomali Rahmon also visited exhibition of agricultural products grown and collected in the subsidiary farm of the Panj border detachment.

 

The above-mentioned border detachment reportedly has about 4 hectares of subsidiary farms at its disposal, where personnel grow various melons and gourds and annually harvest crop contributing to the food supply of the personnel.

At this point, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General of the Army, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, completed his visit to Panj border detachment and started for Mir Said Ali Hamadoni district of Khatlon provincein order to review the state of combat readiness of law enforcement agencies there.

On an alarm signal, the personnel of the armed forces of the province comprised of more than two thousand staff arrived at the airport of the Mir Said Ali Hamadoni district of Khatlon province with heavy armored vehicles, modern firearms and ammunition.

Following the National Anthem, the President of the country H.E. Emomali Rahmon shared his thoughts and views on the unstable situation in the region and the world, on real threats, comprehensive training of military personnel, troops mobilization and management, the importance of engagement of reserve resources, the need for all types of weapons and ammunition and military equipment to be ready at all times in order not to lose political and military vigilance and most importantly, to faithfully and devotedly serve for the prosperity of the ancestral land, for a lasting peace and stability of the country.

At the outset, the Head of State cordially congratulated all officers and soldiers on the 30th anniversary of the State independence of our beloved Tajikistan with a feeling of appreciation for the independence and freedom of the state and people, the atmosphere of peace in the country, unity and mutual understanding of the people of Tajikistan.

During his speech, President Emomali Rahmon outlined about the need to strengthen the border service, ensure state security and the peaceful life of citizens of the country, which depends on the level of protection of boundaries and edges.

The President of the country noted with satisfaction that the creation of the Border Troops, that today represent an equipped and reliable force to protect the country's borders, is one of the important milestones in the history of Tajik statehood and one of the great achievements of Tajikistan's independence.

By defending Tajikistan’s borders, our border guards also significantly contribute to ensuring the security of other countries and regions of the planet against threats and challenges of the current world, including terrorism and extremism, illicit drugs and weapons trafficking and other types of transnational organized crime.

Some three district departments, 17 border detachments, 2 special forces, a separate aviation squadron, 7 border commandant's offices, 158 border surveillance points, 35 border checkpoints, the Military Border Institute, the “Great Cyrus Successor’s Gymnasium” were created, 4 training centers, 3 military hospitals, 5 military units in the field of technical support, and 187 auxiliary facilities were built during the period of independence of the country in order to ensure the protection of the state border.

In order to strengthen the protection of vulnerable sections of the state border with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in cooperation with other structures and authorities 92 additional border checkpoints were built and 173 border facilities were reconstructed as well.

Hundreds of kilometers of new border roads and other border facilities have been built in this period.

During the period of independence, 2,800 young people graduated from domestic and foreign military institutes, including 1,500 graduates of the Border Institute of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan and 1,300 people graduates of foreign universities, who currently serve as officers of the Border Troops.

Over the past few years, as a result of the vigilance of the brave border guards of Hamadoni border detachment and in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies of the country, more than 25 tons of drugs, 1,200 bars of weapons and 6,300 pieces of ammunition have been seized and confiscated.

Reportedly, more than 1600 families of officers of the Border Troops have been provided with housing. The top leadership of the country, given the difficulties related to protection of the border,will continue taking all necessary measures to address social issues of military personnel and strengthen support to improve the conditions of service and life of border guards.

The President of the country, H.E. EmomaliRahmon in conclusion addressed the officers and soldiers that everyone, who stands at the forefront to protect the state border and the tranquility of the country’s people, must strictly adhere to military discipline and always be vigilant to prevent terrorist attacks and extremist groups and other criminals intended to disrupt the peace and tranquility of our Motherland and the peaceful life of the glorious people of Tajikistan.

A military parade of officers and soldiers of law enforcement agencies and mobilization reserves took place after the President’s speech.

During his trip, the Head of State visited one of the border detachments of the Mir Said Ali Hamadoni district and were acquainted with the conditions of service and life of officers and soldiers, as well as the state of the physical infrastructure, the readiness of units and mobilization reserves to serve given the increasing demand.

It is important to note that all military units are equipped with various modern equipment, adequate physical infrastructure and other services and modern household conditions based on the instruction of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon in order to increase the country's defense capability and strengthen the combat readiness of the Border Troops and the Armed Forces.

During his visit to the border detachment and exhibition of military ammunition, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon gave specific instructions to the senior management staff of security forces on the effective use and maintenance of special forces and equipment, tanks, artillery, weapons and ammunition, training of experienced military specialists and continuous training of officers and soldiers.
