The current issues and prospects of international cooperation of Tajikistan in energy sphere were discussed as well at the meeting of the President of the country with the Senior Vice President of Total Company Michael Borrel.
As it was noted, this company intends to engage in geological-research works and extraction and processing of oil and gas in the southern area of Tajikistan.
This company will establish its activities in cooperation with China National Petroleum Company (CNPC) and Tetis Petroleum.
As the sides mentioned, oil and gas resources are abundant in Bokhtar basin or Amudarya, which cover 35 thousand sq. km. of southern and western part of Khatlon Region, and their extraction, processing and exportation will lead to a great leap in the economic development of Tajikistan and the region. This cause will also favor the creation of thousands of new jobs.
These three partners want to invest in the nearest future 80 million USD for continuation of research works and beginning of drilling works.
