Today, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived on an official visit and with the view of taking part in the festivities of International Day of Navruz in Kabul – capital of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Issues related to friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two neighboring countries have been discussed at the tete-a-tete meeting, then during the official negotiations with the participation of delegations of both sides.

Head of state of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stated at the beginning of the conversation: “our friendly relations are enrooted in the hearts of peoples of the two countries. In this respect, it is our political and human task to comprehensively strengthen and expand such ties”.

The more fruitful and consistent cooperation between the political and state structures of the two countries, first of all parliaments, prosecutor generals’ offices, supreme courts and justice bodies has been considered necessary in order to solve timely the problems of investors, experts, specialists and migrants.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the rapid development of energy, infrastructure, economic and trade cooperation, and associated the strengthening of cooperation to the soonest and quality implementation of big regional programs like CASA-1000 and railway Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan.

With the view of strengthening of military and security forces of Afghanistan the Tajik side repeatedly expressed its readiness to contribute to the study of relevant cadres of this neighboring country.

Enhancement of the role of Joint commission for coordination of security and border structures has been considered necessary.

The sides also exchanged views on regional and international cooperation in the framework of authoritative international organizations.

Following the negotiations new documents for bilateral cooperation have been signed:

Joint Declarations of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on the Expansion and Strengthening of bilateral relations;

Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Interior of Tajikistan and Ministry of Interior of Afghanistan;

Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of Afghanistan on the Cooperation and Mutual Aid in Customs Activities;

Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of Afghanistan in the sphere of culture, crafts and audio, artistic and printed editions;

Memorandum of Understanding between the Committee of Television and Radio under the Government of Tajikistan and General Department of National Radio and Television of Afghanistan.

During the press-conference heads of both states – Emomali Rahmon and Hamid Karzai expressed satisfaction over the results of meetings and negotiations, atmosphere of friendship and cooperation, and prospects of beneficial relations between the two neighboring countries.
