President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited State University of Belarus and met with its professors and students.
At the beginning of the meeting, Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon was conferred the title “Honorary Professor of the State University of Belarus” according to the decision of its Scientific Board.
During his speech President Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the management and members of Scientific Board of the University for such high appreciation and highlighted: “Tajikistan is interested in the expansion of cooperation with Belarus in the area of higher education”.
As it was discovered, this meeting was attended by many students from Tajikistan. According to the relevant officials, currently more than 200 Tajik students study in higher education institutions of Belarus.
It was stressed that on the basis of agreements reached between the heads of both states – Emomali Rahmon and Alexander Lukashenko, the Republic of Belarus will further not only train Tajik specialists on its territory, but it will also open branches of its education institutions in Tajikistan.
The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon requested to allocate annually 100 quotas for Tajik students only in the State University of Belarus.
