This morning President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met in Kuala Lumpur with former Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Muhammad.

Emomali Rahmon recalled about his first meeting with this famous politician held in October 2003 in Malaysia, and stated: “Tajikistan’s people recognize you as outstanding and successful political and public servant of Malaysia, Islamic world and Asian continent and have been studying and following your reformist activities”.

During the conversation it was expressed gratification over the results of official meetings and negotiations, creation of the first legal treaty basis of cooperation and beginning of activities of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Malaysia.

Mahathir Muhammad stated that he is even today ready to take efforts to expand the relations of Malaysia with Tajikistan.

An exchange of views also took place on different subjects of regional and international relations.
