President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the International high-level conference on the results of the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", 2005-2015.
At the meeting the sides discussed issues of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations.
It was expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of Tajikistan with 23 institutions of the United Nations, including in the areas of public administration, education, health, social welfare, agriculture, elimination of consequences of natural disasters and water.
It was pointed out that during 2010-2014, in collaboration with these organizations in Tajikistan were implemented about 100 projects totaling 346 million. US dollars.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has once again praised the international initiatives of Tajikistan in the water sector and expressed his gratitude to President Emomali Rahmon for the organization of high-level international conference today.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to attend this year's regular session of the UN General Assembly in New York City as the country's leader, initiator of solution of world problems related to water, energy, global warming and sustainable development, including through wider use of green economy.
Parties, taking into account the rich experience of cooperation and achieved effective results highlighted a strong readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
