Today, in Ufa, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin welcomed the head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon in Ufa, and praised the development of cooperation between the two countries. In particular, it was noted that despite the economic difficulties in Europe and in the world and in Russia in the past year the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 21 percent.

The Russian leader also praised the process of Tajikistan's chairmanship in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, in particular joint exercises in Tajikistan.

Emomali Rahmon, in turn, said: "For Tajikistan relations with Russia are of permanent and special priority, and this legal provision has been enshrined in the new Concept of foreign policy of our country."

The meeting discussed issues related to the development of cooperation in the fields of politics, security, defense, economy, trade, investment, science and technology, and culture.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the fields of security and defense. It was stressed that Tajikistan and Russia, as opposed to the threats and challenges of the modern world, especially terrorism, extremism and illegal drug trafficking, should have a stable and permanent integration in order to strengthen the protection of the state border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and in the information wars.

Another important topic of discussion was to review issues related to the activities of Tajik labor migrants in the Russian Federation. It was expressed satisfaction with the secondary authorization to enter Russia by a number of citizens of Tajikistan, in particular, Tajik students. However, it was stressed that the work towards the provision of other benefits to migrant workers in Tajikistan, as well as the legal regulation of this process must continue.

In connection with this subject, special attention was paid to the issues of amnesty of migrant workers with two or more administrative offenses, legalization of stay of those who are considered illegal migrants and simplifying the order of stay of Tajik citizens in Russia, the extension of registration of Tajik students after their entry into the territory of the country.

A useful discussion was also held on the expansion of integration in the international and regional organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other regional and global issues.
