The evening of 27 September, in New York on the sidelines of the anniversary 70th session of the UNGA, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Netherlands Mark Rutte.
The sides exchanged views on the establishment of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
"Tajikistan is interested in expanding relations with the Kingdom of Netherlands, and strengthening relations with the countries of the European Union is an important task of our foreign policy", - said President Emomali Rahmon at the beginning of the meeting.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte also expressed interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries. It was emphasized that for the expansion of mutually beneficial relations between Tajikistan and the Netherlands there are a number of resources and opportunities. In this regard, it was stressed the need to create an appropriate treaty basis.
The parties noted the need for fruitful cooperation in strengthening of regional security, borders, investment, environmental protection, poverty reduction, management and use of hydropower resources, agriculture, education, health, strengthening democratic processes, both bilaterally and within the European Union.
Emomali Rahmon, recalling the readiness of relevant ministries and departments of our country to meet a group of representatives of Dutch agricultural companies arriving in the coming days to Tajikistan to get acquainted with agricultural possibilities of the country, expressed confidence that "the visit of your agricultural companies will give a new impetus to the development of our relationship".
