President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in Dushanbe in order to take part at the next meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent State’s Council.
At the meeting, along with the issues of cooperation within the CIS, the sides also discussed bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Russia.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, noting the importance of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia, expressed his confidence in all matters of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners and allies, strengthening and deepening of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Taking into account the current situation in the region and the world, especially destabilizing the situation in the north of Afghanistan, special attention was paid to the implementation of the modernization program of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, support to the border troops of the republic.
In addition, in the framework of the important meeting were discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including the implementation of the work plans of the Russian company Gazprom in Tajikistan and the activities of the Sangtuda-1.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of simplification of the legal conditions of work and residence of Tajik migrants in Russia. In particular, they expressed confidence that the verification and consequently the actions of individual employees of the relevant authorities in Russia, which led to the death of 5-month-old Tajik child Umarali Nazarzoda in St. Petersburg, will be conducted fairly, objectively and in accordance with the requirements of the law, and the perpetrators of this terrible tragedy will suffer condign punishment.
