This morning the bilateral high-level meetings between the leadership of both countries has begun in the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the People’s Republic of China.
The issues of cooperation between the two countries have been considered at the high-level political negotiations with participation of official delegations of both sides.
“Relations with the People’s Republic of China occupy priority role in the foreign policy of Tajikistan”, - stated Emomali Rahmon and added: “our states have turned into kind neighbors, loyal friends and reliable partners over the 20 years of diplomatic relations”.
Hu Jintao in his turn said to Emomali Rahmon: “I marvel at your firm position in fight against the three evils and threats of the modern world. Your personal role in ensuring regional security is quite remarkable and we appreciate it”.
During the review of issues of economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, it was in particular stressed that the enhancement of ties in spheres of energy, mining industry, transport, communication and agriculture is among the important sectors in this area.
Both parties expressed their interest in construction of power stations, power transmission lines, heating plants, construction and reconstruction of railways and automobile roads, commencement of exploration works of oil and gas resources in Tajikistan and the development of regional ties.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the consistent development and results of cooperation between the defense and security structures of Tajikistan and China, as well as voiced interest in the enhancement of their bilateral ties in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Following the official meetings and negotiations two documents have been signed with participation and in presence of the heads of Tajikistan and China:
Joint Declaration of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China;
Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on technical and economic cooperation.
As it was informed, according to Agreement on technical and economic cooperation 150 million yuans of grant aid is allocated to Tajikistan for support of socio-economic development.
