In the afternoon, President Emomali Rahmon met with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra, who came to Tajikistan on an official visit and to participate in the International High-Level Conference on Water Cooperation.
During the review of issues related to good friendly relations and constructive partnership between Tajikistan and Thailand, main attention was paid to issues of political interaction in the Asian region and the world arena, expansion of economic, trade, investment, cultural, humanitarian ties.
As it was mentioned, “Tajikistan and Thailand share similar and approximate positions on major urgent issues and those related to important global problems, and take joint efforts for their addressing”.
According to Emomali Rahmon, “Thailand is among the countries, which always support global initiatives of Tajikistan in the sphere of water and participation of high-level delegation of this country in the most important event of International Year of Water Cooperation is another evidence of its benevolent position towards constructive initiatives of our country”.
Both sides agreed to open a direct air communication between the capitals of both countries, Dushanbe and Bangkok, for development of direct relations, including for enhancement of tourism.
Following the meeting, Intergovernmental Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports has been signed and a Joint Declaration has been adopted.
During the press conference, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra highly commended the results of today’s top-level negotiations and named the developing relations between the two countries as promising.
