Today, President Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko.

The issues of wide-ranging cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia have been considered at the meeting.

Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon noted with satisfaction that “the legal and treaty basis of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries relies upon more than 240 documents”.

A constructive talk took place on the political, military, security, economic and trade cooperation and prospects of development of humanitarian and cultural interaction.

Valentina Matviyenko stated that “We express our thanks to Tajikistan, particularly its president for comprehensive support of Russian language, public support of its spread and usage”.

The sides highly evaluated the role of inter-parliamentary forum “Tajikistan-Russia: opportunities of interregional cooperation” on establishment and development of direct ties between the separate regions of the two countries. It was stressed that currently almost 80 regions of Russia cooperate immediately with separate regions of Tajikistan.
