The issues related to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries have been considered at the meeting of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon with Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Abdurazzaq.
A constructive talk began at the tete-a-tete meeting then was continued at the top-level negotiations with the participation of enlarged delegations of both sides.
Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Abdurazzaq also stressed deep interest of Malaysia in the establishment and expansion of cooperation ties with Tajikistan, and stated that “Malaysia has opened its doors to Tajikistan and we are ready to actively facilitate the stable economic development of your country using our rich experience”.
Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon named the development of cooperation with developed countries of South East Asia and particularly Malaysia “among the important directions of foreign policy of Tajikistan”.
Constructive exchange of views was held on the expansion of political, economic, investment, trade, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation.
Head of state Emomali Rahmon invited Prime Minister of Malaysia to pay a return state visit to Tajikistan.
It was expressed satisfaction over the remarkable enhancement of cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries. It was noted with gratification that currently more than 200 Tajik students are studying in the higher education institutions of Malaysia.
Following the official negotiations a number of documents were signed which have laid the first foundation to legal treaty basis of cooperation between Tajikistan and Malaysia.
First, Head of Tajik state Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Abdurazzaq signed the Joint Statement between the Republic of Tajikistan and Malaysia on the occasion of state visit of President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Other signed documents were:
MoU between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Malaysia on bilateral consultations;
Agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Malaysia on Economic, Technical, and Scientific Cooperation;
MoU between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in the sphere of Higher Education;
MoU between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in the sphere of Tourism;
MoU between the Government of Tajikistan and Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in the sphere of Sports;
MoU between the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan and Olympic Council of Malaysia.
